Today, we are doing some pair programming with AI, also known as vibe coding! There's certainly not just one way to use AI assistants, but I wanted to share the way I do it.
I'll keep it very simple, using only the chat interface.
How much do prompts matter?
Not as much as before. Prompts made a huge difference when I was experimenting with GPT-3, but now all flagship LLMs are smart enough to understand what you mean regardless of how you phrase it. What does matter though is the context. Sometimes AI assistants can be overconfident and not know what they don't know.
So, what I found that matters the most is to share all the context, constraints, and requirements. And prompt it to ask for more information when it's not sure, before jumping into coding.
